The Guild of Optometric Directors of Nigeria is the umbrella body of all Directors of Optometric clinics in Nigeria (Optometric eye clinic operators in Nigeria). The Guild serves to promote high-quality optometric care in the private sector in Nigeria, an organization that is focused on promoting Leadership and development of optometry entrepreneurs in Nigeria with a membership based of 1000 with potential to exceed 5000 by 2027.
MISSION STATEMENT Promote high quality optometric care in the private sector in Nigeria, preserve and advance the profession of optometry, serve as an advocate for patients and members.

About GOODON

Aim and objectives of The Guild Of Optometric Directors Of Nigeria

The Guild of Optometric Directors of Nigeria is set up to:
  • 1. We are an interface between directors and lending houses making it easier for members to assess loans and at favorable rate.
  • 2. We aim to have a sinking fund where members can borrow from at a rate lower than financial houses lending rate.
  • 3. We liaise with equipment sales company for credit purchase to members and negotiate repayment terms including moratorium period.
  • 4. We work towards ensuring the Harmonization of billings and prices with due regards to state and regional peculiarities.
  • 5. We Encourage specialty practices.
  • 6. We offer members legal and business advisory services and come to member’s aid in times of need.
  • 7. TO STRONGLY negotiate favorable tariffs with HMO and other health insurance schemes to ensure favorable rates and prices: and also increase the scope of services covered.
  • 8. To also harmonize charges amongst the health insurance provider by insisting on a uniform ophthalmic billing codes. Ensure prompt payments of bills by HMO.
  • 9. Reducing/ eliminating quackery by insisting on standardized practices amongst Optometrists
  • 10. Work closely with ODORBN and state ministries of health to fight quacks.
  • 11. Help members grow their business, encourage mergers and partnerships through the business advisory committee.
  • 12. To achieve Harmonization of salaries of staff especially Optometrist with due regards to regional and state peculiarities.
  • 13. Organize training of both optometrists and support staff.
  • 14. To negotiate with government revenue and tax bodies to protect member’s interest.
  • 15. To ensure presence and prominence with relevant government agencies to protect interests of optometric practices.
